“We’re looking for a place where we belong.”

Abdurahman and Fozia look forward to raising their three children in a safe home that will help lay the foundation for their future. Abdurahman works long hours as an assembler for a local manufacturing company while Fozia looks after their nine year old daughter and two sons – ages four and one.

Abdurahman and Fozia worry for the safety of their kids every time they hear gun shots outside their apartment. Their complex is located in an area with a high crime rate and frequent violence. Inside, their apartment is very crowded, with pests and windows that leak cold air. They are frequently battling mold as water often leaks in from the upstairs apartment’s plumbing – making Abdurahman and Fozia concerned for the health of their children.

Abdurahman and Fozia’s dream is to have a home with a safe, healthy environment for their family. By partnering with Habitat for Humanity, they will be able to work directly toward that dream by building and purchasing their own home.

Abdurahman is looking forward to helping build their future house and working alongside volunteers and neighbors. “We’re looking for a place where we belong,” shares Fozia.

As Abdurahman and Fozia work toward building their family’s new home, they are thankful for everyone who make’s Habitat’s homeownership program possible. To every volunteer, donor and sponsor, they say, “Thank you.”
