Profound Generosity

A more than 20-year supporter of Habitat Denver, the Reverend Jane Hays built her life and legacy around service. With profound generosity, she’s been able to make a significant impact and help further Habitat’s mission and transform lives by bequeathing her home after passing this year.

Rev. Hays deeply cared for her community and Habitat’s programs.  As a member of Habitat’s Carpenter’s Helpers Coalition, she attended home dedications and connected with the cause of building homes, stability, and hope. Her daughters, Marie and Carol, are happy the proceeds of their mom’s home will help serve Habitat’s mission, a cause that was near to their mother’s heart.

A handy woman herself, Rev. Hays remodeled her home and cultivated a beautiful garden. This home, and all the love and hard work it represents, will continue to build bright futures for hardworking Denver families.

About Reverend Jane Coughlan Hays

Rev. Hays was one of the first women ordained in Denver Presbytery. After raising her children she earned her Master of Divinity Degree from the Iliff School of Theology. She served as the parish associate at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Lakewood until 1995, and remained an active member of the congregation until her passing. In addition to serving in her church, Rev. Hays generously supported several non-profit organizations over the years.
