Planned Giving

As you plan for your future and reflect on the legacy you will leave behind, you can empower families in need through a planned gift with Habitat.

Build a Legacy

When you make a planned gift to Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver in your estate or long-term financial plans, you help ensure that we'll be here—committed to decent and affordable homeownership—for many years to come.

Make a Gift Through Your Will or Living Trust

One simple and flexible way to ensure that your legacy of empowerment continues for years to come is by making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a charitable bequest. You may share the suggested language below with your attorney:

I hereby bequeath to Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver (Federal Tax ID# 74-2050021)—a charitable organization duly existing under the laws of Colorado and located in Denver, Colorado—_% of the remainder of my estate [or $_, if specific amount] to be used in the areas of greatest need as the board of directors may determine.

Create Your Free Will Online

Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver has teamed up with FreeWill to help you get started planning for your future… for free! FreeWill is a safe and secure way to write a legal will in 20 minutes or less.

“I added Habitat to my will because I feel very fortunate and grateful for the opportunity to own our home. We are so excited and I just want to do the right thing by trying to give back in any way possible even if it’s a small donation when I’m no longer here. Thank you for all that you do and did for me and my family.”

-Gianna, future homeowner at Aria Homes by Habitat

A Legacy for Generations

Libby Kirkpatrick first got involved with Habitat Metro Denver around 2005, when she volunteered with a couple friends at Habitat’s ReStore. Soon, her son Taylor was volunteering on construction sites, and he joined Habitat’s Board of Directors in 2008.

"We love Habitat’s ‘hand up’ philosophy which is why its mission was so appealing to my mom and our whole family," Taylor shares.

Libby’s investment in Habitat’s mission continued throughout her life, and, sadly, culminated with a transformational donation at the time of her passing through a bequest in her will. "We are proud and honored as a family that we are leaving, in quiet ways, a lasting legacy on the communities where we live and work through philanthropic support of organizations we love."
