Jeffco Interfaith Partners

Habitat Metro Denver would like to recognize Jeffco Interfaith Partners (formerly West Metro Habitat Interfaith Coalition), a diverse group consisting of Protestant, Catholic, Unitarian and Religious Scientist congregations for their long partnership. The group is made up of 10 congregations and has supported Habitat’s mission since 1998. Overall, Jeffco Interfaith Partners has completed 19 metro Denver Habitat homes.

Jeffco Interfaith Partners held a blessing for their 2021 sponsorship, writing blessings on the studs and installing blessings from each congregation along with Peace Cranes in the home. We were joined by the future homeowner and her son, who expressed thankfulness for the support of our faith coalition.

Our 2020 Partner Family: Hareb & Djamila

"Homeownership for our family is the first step to success in the United States, and it will open doors for other steps."

Hareb and Djamila moved to Denver just over a year ago, and they work hard to make ends meet. Hareb works more than 40 hours per week at a local food production company, and Djamila is a para-educator in Cherry Creek Schools.

Currently, Hareb and Djamila live with their daughter in an overpriced, small one-bedroom apartment. They are partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver to purchase and build a three-bedroom house in the Swansea Homes community, and they are thrilled about the extra space their new home will provide.

"My little Sophia is eleven months old, but even she will feel a lot of space to walk and play," shares Hareb.

As a Habitat partner family, Hareb and Djamilla each have to contribute sweat equity hours to help build their future home, participate in homeowner education classes, and purchase their home with an affordable mortgage.

They look forward to the day they close on their forever home and receive their keys.

"When we move into our new Habitat house, it will be stability and lots of space; we will be at home."

Each house is built with donated funds from congregations, individuals, and companies. Every little bit helps. Please take a moment to consider how your gift can help Habitat change lives of families in need. Each donation is a true blessing in the eyes of the family who gets one step closer to their dream of homeownership and a better future for their children.
