For more than a decade, Lowe’s and Habitat for Humanity have teamed up to build homes, communities, and hope. In 2014, Lowe’s announced its largest single donation ever with a five year commitment of $23.5 million. Since 2003 Lowe’s total commitment to Habitat for Humanity exceeds $63 million nationally.
Lowe’s impact is local as well as national. In 2015 Habitat Metro Denver was awarded a $70,000 grant to revitalize the Globeville neighborhood in Denver. These funds were used to assist low-income homeowners in Globeville with much needed exterior home repairs. The scope of this work included rebuilding porches, replacing roofs and siding, as well as window replacement and exterior painting.
These neighborhoods have experienced significant transformation with assistance from partners like Lowe’s. Phrases like “family-friendly community” and “easy access to downtown” now appear in real estate listings. Property values have increased by 69% in these revitalized neighborhoods, representing the largest increase in the entire city of Denver. At Habitat Metro Denver, we have ambitious goals to continue to expand this work through the Critical Home Repair Program and to help more low-income homeowners to remain in their homes.
Not only does Lowe’s support Habitat financially, but their employees contribute thousands of hours of labor to build, renovate, and restore homes in partnership with Habitat.
“Habitat for Humanity has created a remarkable legacy by building and strengthening communities across America and around the world,” says Robert Niblock, Lowe’s Chairman, President, and CEO. “We have been honored to be a part of those projects over the past 10 years and are excited about the opportunity to broaden our reach and serve more families in the coming years.”
