Mid-Roof

Access ladder set up

  • Tied off safely to the roof
  • Using the "Safe-T Ladder Extension System" provides safe and convenient access onto and off of the roof
  • If placing a ladder on top of a lower roof, install a 2x6 stop into the roof at the base.
Shingles started
  • Shingles should not be installed in sections that will later have HVAC or plumbing penetrations
Roof paper installed
  • Ice & Water Shield on first 2 layers
  • Regular roof felt up to peak of roof

Access ladder set up

       •   A strap at the top attaching the ladder to the gutter ties is sufficeint

Gutters installed
Porch roofs complete
All appropriate boots, caps, flashing installed
  • Ridge vents along peak of sloped roofs
  • For 1st story bump-out roofs confirm that proper ventilation exists
       •   Ex: 1st story bedroom roof of Jupiter unit at Sheridan
  • For flat roofs: exposed PVC pipes should be given a paint coating to protect against UV deterioration
Roof clear and clean
  • Remove leftover shingle bundles
  • No trash or debris
  • Generally clear of nails
