Housing & Education

At Habitat for Humanity, we know that stable and affordable housing has a ripple effect on a family's life—including financial stability, health and quality of life. Yet one of the biggest areas of impact is on education.

Staying in the same school, having adequate space at home to study, and not worrying about having to move are all contributing factors to educational achievement. We frequently hear stories of educational opportunity and success from Habitat families (see below).

Your support can help even more families build bright futures.

Stable Housing Helps Kids Thrive in School!

The number of families with space at home for their children to study tripled after becoming Habitat homeowners.

7 out of 10 families share that their children are doing better in school since moving into their Habitat home.

Children who grow up in a Habitat Denver home have a 95% high school graduation rate (13 percentage points higher than Colorado’s average of 81.9%).

Bochra, now a third grade teacher, remembers her own academics after moving into her new Habitat home.

"I always earned A's in high school, and even had a 4.3 GPA in science!" she recalls. "A big part of why I did so well in high school was because I wanted to make it worthwhile for my parents, who sacrificed so much for us. And also because I truly enjoy learning."
