Women Build Fundraising Committee - A Tradition since 1995
Women Build has completed 19 homes under the guidance of the Denver affiliate. These 19 homes include the first ever Women Build blitz build in May of 2001. Five homes were built in 8 days with hundreds for women from around the US and women from Ireland and Canada. Fifteen years of success has been made possible through the support of the affiliate and a group of dedicated women volunteers who work together as the Women Build committee.
Many skills are learned and shared by these women as they raise funds and promote Women Build to the community. As the house is built so too are the bonds of friendship and faith among the committee members, volunteers and the partner family.
Interested women of all backgrounds are welcome to participate on the committee. There's a little bit of something for everyone ~ fundraising, event planning, idea exchanges, etc. Email your interest to

On September first, Habitat of Metro Denver will begin construction on our 20th Women Build house. Located in Sheridan, CO, the house will be a single story home with two bedrooms. The Women Build home is scheduled to be under construction for 12 weeks and volunteers will be needed to help on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Volunteers are asked to work a full day from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Volunteer opportunities are available. Please sign up online.

Christie Halliburton currently lives in a basement apartment in north Denver that leaves her shivering on cold winter nights. She is an Assistant Manager in General Merchandise for Albertsons grocery store and loves her job. Because Christie uses public transportation to get to work, her current location is far from ideal. Her hours vary widely, and she often has to walk several blocks in the dark to get to and from the nearest bus stop.
Christie will be moving into a duplex that will be so close to her work that she’ll be able to ride her bike, rather than taking a bus or train. Christie can’t wait to move in and is excited about the new insulation that will keep her warm and lower her winter heating bills. The house will also be closer to her church and near the new FasTracks western corridor light rail line that is currently under construction.
Words can’t explain how grateful I am”, Christie said about the people who are making homeownership possible for her. “Without them, I wouldn’t be able to have a better life. Life is just beginning for me!”
